Every weekday, more than 40,000 riders rely SamTrans to get to work, school, medical appointments or to shop and run errands. Our ability to provide safe and efficient transportation services is greatly impacted by federal, state and local legislative and regulatory actions.
SamTrans’ Government Affairs staff is responsible for developing and coordinating the organization’s legislative program at the federal, state, regional and local levels. The Government Affairs team monitors and analyzes the impact of legislative and regulatory issues and develops a coordinated strategy for responding to these issues as they impact San Mateo County's transportation services. The Government Affairs staff maintains an active presence in Washington D.C. and Sacramento to ensure that our interests are well represented in these various forums. Government Affairs staff also serves as the liaison to local and regional organizations, governments and policymakers.
