Government Affairs
Government Affairs staff is responsible for developing and coordinating the San Mateo County Transit District's legislative program at the federal, state, regional and local levels. The San Mateo County Transit District is responsible for the oversight of SamTrans bus operations, Redi-Wheels paratransit service, Caltrain planning, operations and construction and the administration of the Measure A half-cent sales tax through the Transportation Authority. Staff analyzes the impact of legislative and regulatory issues, and develops a coordinated strategy for responding to these issues as they impact San Mateo County's transportation services. Government Affairs staff maintains an active presence in Washington D.C. and Sacramento to ensure that the District's interests are well represented in these various forums. Staff also coordinates local and community affairs and serves as the liaison to regional organizations, local government and the communities we serve.
