Caltrain and SamTrans Memorial Day Service

Caltrain and SamTrans Memorial Day Service

What is more traditional on Memorial Day than enjoying the beach, a hot dog and a baseball game? Celebrate by taking Caltrain to the Giants vs. Nationals game on Cooler Bag day, this Monday, May 29, at 1:05 p.m., or if you’re looking for something even more laid-back this holiday, you might consider riding SamTrans to Half Moon Bay.

On Memorial Day both Caltrain and SamTrans will operate Sunday service schedules.

For the Giants’ Memorial Day game, Caltrain will operate two pre-game Special trains departing from San Jose at 9:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. and a Special train departing from Palo Alto at 10:50 a.m. along with two post-game trains, one Express to Belmont departs approximately 15 minutes after the game or when full and one Local to San Jose departing approximately 25 minutes after the game or when full.

SamTrans provides service to the coastal city of Half Moon Bay with its big-wave surfing, lush green golf course, cozy comfortable inns, and top notch cuisine a great get-away for the Memorial weekend. Travel stress-free from the Caltrain Hillsdale Station and take SamTrans 294 to Half Moon Bay.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system: tickets aren’t sold onboard trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations. Fans are encouraged to purchase a Day Pass at Caltrain ticket machines to avoid long lines after the game. The pass is valid for unlimited rides within zone limits on Caltrain through the last train. Clipper card users are reminded to tag on and tag off.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

To help make it a pleasant trip for all, Caltrain reminds fans to drink responsibly and to remember that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on trains departing from San Francisco beginning at 9 p.m. on game days.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
