SamTrans Cancels Art Takes A Bus Ride Contest

Due to the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, SamTrans is canceling its annual Art Takes a Bus Ride contest for young San Mateo County artists this year.

The contest, which SamTrans has held for 16 years, saw a substantial decrease in submissions compared to previous years.

SamTrans, along with the San Mateo County Office of Education which co-sponsors the event, are collaborating in order to ensure that the contest resumes next year.

“While we are disappointed that we won’t get to see the fantastic art of San Mateo County’s students, it’s just not feasible at this time,” said SamTrans Board Chair Karyl Matsumoto. “We are eagerly looking forward to resuming this great tradition next year.”
