SamTrans to Offer Free New Year’s Service

To ensure that everyone who needs a safe ride home at the end of their evening will have one, SamTrans will provide free rides starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 31, until the end of service as it has in years past.

On New Year’s Eve, SamTrans will be operating their regular weekday service, with free fares after 8 p.m. SamTrans will operate a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day, resuming fare collection at 5 a.m.

SamTrans requires riders to wear a face covering at all times.

The administrative offices of the San Mateo County Transit District, which manages SamTrans, will be closed on New Year’s Day. SamTrans customer service is available on New Year’s Eve, December 31, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on New Year’s Day, January 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by phone at 1.800.660.4287.
