SamTrans to Hold Clipper Outreach Events

SamTrans to Hold Clipper Outreach Events

SamTrans has been busy informing customers that the bus agency’s paper monthly passes are being eliminated at the end of the year. However, customers can still buy the passes by having them loaded to Clipper®, the Bay Area’s regional fare card.

Youth and Senior Monthly Pass customers who need to obtain a Youth or Senior Clipper card must fill out an application and bring it with proof-of-age to the SamTrans office at 1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. To make it more convenient for customers, SamTrans staff will hold sign-up events throughout the community (see list below).

Once customers complete the application, Clipper cards will be mailed to youth customers within 21 business days; Senior cards will be issued at the time of visit.

The applying senior must come to the office. Youth customers or their parent/guardian must appear in person. Customers must present one of the following forms of identification along with the application:

  • Birth certificate
  • State-Issued Driver's License
  • State-Issued Identification Card
  • Passport
  • San Francisco City ID Card
  • Matricula Consular/Consular Identification
  • Alien Registration/Permanent Resident Card.

Clipper cards can be loaded by going to a Clipper retailer, such as Walgreens, by calling Clipper at 1-877-878-8883 or by visiting clippercard.com. Passes also can be loaded at the SamTrans office.

For information on Clipper on SamTrans, visit www.samtrans.com/clipper. As more sign-up events are added, they will be posted to the website.
