The Board of Directors consists of nine members from various leadership positions in the community with the following composition:

  • Two members from the county Board of Supervisors
  • One transportation expert appointed by the Board of Supervisors
  • Three city councilpersons, appointed by the City Selection Committee. Each councilperson represents a judicial district in San Mateo County.
  • Three public members, one of whom must reside on the coastside, appointed by the above six members.

The Board and its committees meet the first Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. to determine overall policy for the District.  Agendas are available approximately one week before the meetings.  Comments to the board may be submitted to, by fax at 650-508-6281 or by writing to 1250 San Carlos Ave., P.O. Box 3006, San Carlos, CA, 94070-1306.  Any correspondence to be included in the Board reading file must be received by 2 p.m. the day before the Board meeting.  Correspondence, including any personal information such as names and e-mail addresses, submitted to this agency will become disclosable public records. 

SamTrans Board Seeking Public Member

The Board is seeking applicants to fill its Coastside public member seat for a four-year term beginning January 2019. Applicants must be residents of the County's coastal region and must not have held elective office within the past year. Deadline for receipt of applications is November 30, 2018.
