SamTrans Board Seeks New Central/Southern Public Member
The San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) Board of
Directors is accepting applications for a Public Member seat.
Applications are due Friday, December 30, 2005 at 5 PM.
The applicant must reside in the Central or Southern regions
of San Mateo County (Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo
Alto, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, Menlo Park,
Millbrae, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo,
Woodside, or unincorporated areas in and around these cities).
The applicant must not have held elected public office within
the past 12 months.
This Public Member will be appointed by six members of the
SamTrans board - the three members appointed by the Board of
Supervisors and the three members appointed by the Cities
Selection Committee. The seat has an unexpired term, which
ends on December 31, 2008.

The SamTrans Board of Directors was formed in 1976 in order to meet the public transit needs
of the County. The Board consists of nine members: three members appointed by the Board of
Supervisors, two of whom are members of the Board of Supervisors and one who possesses
expertise in the field of transportation; three members appointed by the Cities Selection
Committee, who are council members at the time of their appointment; and three public
members, one of whom is a coastal resident. Each term is four years.
