The SamTrans Way2Go program allows companies and residential complexes to purchase annual unlimited-ride passes for all eligible employees or residents. Customers simply swipe their Way2Go Pass through the farebox when boarding SamTrans. The Way2Go Pass is not available for purchase by individuals and is valid on all SamTrans fixed-route service. The Way2Go Pass is valid for a calendar year and expires on Dec. 31 each year.
The Way2Go program is open to participants of any size. Participants pay an annual fee for every eligible employee or resident regardless of who will use the program. Eligible residents include all residents five years and older and eligible employees include all employees working more than 20 hours per week excluding contractors, consultants, interns and temporary employees.
The total cost of participating in the Way2Go program is the greater of $125 per eligible employee/resident or $12,500. To determine the cost, multiply the number of eligible employees/residents by $125. If the total is less than $12,500, the participation cost is $12,500. If the total exceeds $12,500, the cost is $125 per eligible employee/resident. The cost is pro-rated if the participant joins the program for less than a full year.
To participate in the Way2Go program, participants sign a written agreement (company, residential) with SamTrans and are responsible for tracking and distributing the Way2Go passes. Employees/residents are required to fill out an online survey prior to receiving the Way2Go Pass.
