Media Advisory: SamTrans Launches First Transit Oriented Development Project

What:
A groundbreaking ceremony for the $35 million Colma BART Apartment project marks the San Mateo County Transit District's first foray into transit oriented development on district property.

The project includes a 153-unit apartment building with 3,500 square feet of neighborhood retail space. Twenty percent of the residential units will be affordable housing. The transit oriented community is being built on transit district property located east of the Colma BART Station, and is one of few projects where public property is leased at a fair market rate.

When:
Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 11a.m. to 1p.m.

Who:
Speakers will include Caltrain Board of Directors Chair and San Mateo County Supervisor Michael Nevin, transit district Board of Directors Vice Chair and Daly City Mayor Michael Guingona, JSM Enterprises President Jim Morley, JSM Executive Vice President Rich DeFabio and California Debt Limitation Allocation Committee Executive Director Laurie Weir.

Where:
Colma BART Apartments construction site
7800 El Camino Real, between Michael Nevin Way (formally "B Street") and Albert Teglia Boulevard (formally "D Street").

Why:
