Holiday Travelers Can Take SamTrans, Caltrain to Airports
Holiday air travelers can avoid traffic and parking hassles by leaving the driving to
SamTrans or Caltrain.
San Francisco Airport
Public transit to San Francisco International Airport is inexpensive and convenient.
Buses bring patrons to the curb and all buses are wheelchair accessible.
SamTrans provides service from the Peninsula and San Francisco to the airport through
four routes.
- 193 and BX (north county)
- 292 (San Mateo to San Francisco)
- KX (Palo Alto to San Francisco)
Route 193 connects with BART at the Daly City BART Station, and express Route BX
serves BART at the Colma station.
Route KX is unable to carry passengers with luggage between San Francisco and the
airport.
Passengers can also take Caltrain and the free SFO shuttle to the airport. The
shuttle meets every weekday train until approximately 10 p.m. daily, transporting
passengers between from the Millbrae Caltrain Station and the airport. For the
duration of the CTX construction project, Caltrain will not operate on the weekends.
Passengers departing or returning on a weekend can use Route 292 to connect with
Caltrain's alternative weekend service Route RRX, which serves the Hillsdale Caltrain
Station in San Mateo.
Both SamTrans buses and the Caltrain SFO shuttles stop at terminals one or two, or
the international terminal on the lower level.
San Jose Airport
For passengers heading to San Jose International Airport, Caltrain connects with the
Valley Transportation Authority's free Airport Flyer bus at the Santa Clara Caltrain
Station during the week.
