SamTrans Runs to the Albertsons Bay to Breakers
Hit the road, but miss the traffic and parking hassles, by taking SamTrans' express
bus service to the world's wackiest foot race on Sunday, May 18.
SamTrans will take you to the Bay (Second and Folsom streets) bright and early on
race day, and pick you up near the Breakers (Sunset Boulevard) after the race.
Purchase your tickets in advance* OR onboard on race day
- If you have purchased in advance, you won't have to worry about your fare on
race day - simply present your pre-paid ticket to the bus operator as you board.
In return, you will receive a sticker for the return trip. Registration forms

- If you have not purchased in advance, you may pay your $10 fare upon boarding
the bus on Sunday, May 18. Please note that exact change is required. After
paying your fare, you will receive a sticker for the return trip.
*It's not too late to purchase your bus tickets in advance! Just visit the
Greater Body Expo at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Friday, May 16 or Saturday,
May 17. SamTrans will be selling tickets near the registration area from 11 a.m. to
6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Before the race
Buses will drop off runners at Second and Folsom streets by 7:10 a.m. on race day.
Buses will head to Sunset Boulevard to drop off spectators by 7:40 a.m.
After the race
The buses will pick up passengers right outside the Polo Fields, on Sunset Boulevard
between Irving and Judah streets. The first bus will depart at 10 a.m. or when full.
The last bus will leave at 1 p.m.
"Participants' Bus"
A "Participants' Bus" will have bags to hold extra clothes and food during the race
(no valuables please). The special bus will be at Second and Folsom streets before
the race and at Sunset Boulevard between Irving Street and Lincoln Way after the race.
SamTrans is not responsible for any articles left on the bus.
Three bus routes serving 10 cities
SamTrans offers express service on three routes serving Palo Alto, Menlo Park,
Atherton, Redwood City, San Carlos, Belmont, San Mateo, Burlingame, Millbrae and San
Bruno.
Route 853
Travels on El Camino Real from Fifth Avenue in San Mateo to San Bruno Avenue in San
Bruno. Stops include:

Caltrain reminder
Caltrain will NOT be serving the Albertsons Bay to Breakers this year because weekend
service has been halted due to a major construction project.
The Albertsons Bay to Breakers is billed
as the oldest and largest footrace in the world.
