SamTrans Football Ridership Up This Season
Ridership on SamTrans' football express bus service was up this season, boosted by
the large number of fans using the hassle-free service to attend the home playoff
game.
SamTrans took more than 6,100 fans to see the playoff game held at Candlestick Point,
the highest single game ridership since 1999. When the San Francisco 49ers were down
21 points to the New York Giants during the team's first post-season game, many fans
left early. Those fortunate enough to ride SamTrans were able to witness one of the
best comebacks in playoff history, because the SamTrans buses stay for the entire
game.
SamTrans carried 50,133 fans to 49ers home games this season.
SamTrans football service offers six express routes to 49ers home games, including
pre-season and post-season games. The buses arrive 30 minutes before game time and
return trips depart beginning 20 minutes after the game. Round trip fare is $12.
