Get a Free Pass with SamTrans Frequent Rider Program
SamTrans wants regular passengers to ride for free one month out of the year. With
SamTrans' frequent rider pass program, passengers can get a free monthly pass every
time they purchase 11 consecutive monthly passes.
In addition to the great value monthly passes already offer by allowing unlimited
rides, adult monthly riders can participate in the trial program two ways: Once a
passenger has accumulated 11 consecutive months worth of passes, the passes can be
redeemed for a free monthly pass; or participants in the program can use it like an
annual pass by paying for an entire year's worth of passes up front, getting the 12th
month for free. SamTrans' Pass Sales Department will track the passes and mail a new
pass out each month, including the bonus 12th pass.
Participants can begin taking advantage of this opportunity anytime between now and
June. All riders need to earn a free month of rides is turn in 11 consecutive
monthly passes. One San Mateo County woman has already signed her mother up for an
entire year's worth of passes, using this program.
All riders currently purchasing Senior/Disabled, Adult Local, SF Local and Express
monthly passes are eligible to participate.
The Youth pass is not included because the Summer Youth Pass already offers a
substantial discount incentive. SamTrans also offers a program with schools allowing
needy families to purchase the monthly Youth pass at a 27 percent discount over the
regular price.
