Freedom Train to Run on Martin Luther King Holiday Jan. 19
While SamTrans and Caltrain will operate regular service on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Day, people traveling to the annual celebration in San Francisco can also ride the
Freedom Train.
The 19th annual Freedom Train is scheduled to depart the San Jose Diridon Caltrain
Station at 10:10 a.m., stopping at the Sunnyvale, Palo Alto and San Mateo stations
before arriving in San Francisco by 11:40 a.m.
From the Caltrain station at Fourth and King streets, Freedom Train passengers will
march to the celebration at Civic Center.
The return Freedom Train departs San Francisco at 3:40 p.m.
The Freedom Train is specially chartered by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Association of the Santa Clara Valley. Tickets to ride the train cost $5 and are
only available through the association, which can be reached by calling 408.881.5464
or 408.238.9350.
