Media Advisory: Bayshore/Brisbane Shuttle Service to be Unveiled
WHAT:
A new transportation service designed specifically for the residents of the Bayshore
and Brisbane areas in northern San Mateo County will be unveiled. A vehicle will be on
display and people will be able to go for a ride. Staff will be on hand to answer
questions about the new service.
WHEN:
2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 7
WHERE:
The event will take place at Lawson Hall, 125 Accacia Street, Daly City
Directions:
From Highway 101 northbound: Bayshore Blvd. exit towards Brisbane; left on Geneva
Ave.; left on Accacia St.
From Highway 101 southbound: Third Street exit towards Brisbane; right on Bayshore
Blvd.; right on Geneva Ave.; left on Accacia St.
WHO:
Speakers will include:
Mike Nevin, chair of the SamTrans Board of Directors and a San Mateo
County supervisor
Mike Guingona, member of the boards of SamTrans and the San Mateo
County Transportation Authority, as well as a Daly City councilman
Daly City Mayor Sal Torres
Brisbane Mayor Michael Barnes
WHY:
The shuttle area previously was served by SamTrans Route 34, which ran at midday
between Geneva Avenue and Tanforan Shopping Center. The route was terminated this
month because of low ridership.
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority will pay half of the $60,000 annual
operating costs for the shuttle. The cities of Daly City and Brisbane will submit a
joint application to the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) for the
balance of the funds.
