SamTrans and Caltrain Prepare for Possible BART Strike

A BART strike will likely increase demand on SamTrans and Caltrain. Commuters are encouraged, whenever possible, to use alternatives such as carpools, flexible work hours or telecommuting.

In the event of a strike, Caltrain will add cars to key trains to increase capacity. Caltrain and SamTrans will continue to serve the Millbrae Intermodal Station. Parking garages at all BART stations will be open for commuters wishing to use them as park and ride lots.

In order to assist passengers heading to San Francisco International Airport, Routes 292 and KX, which serve the airport, will be rerouted to serve the Millbrae Intermodal Station. Northbound buses will serve bus bay 3; southbound buses will serve bus bay 10.

SamTrans will establish a temporary transfer point in Daly City, where riders will be able to connect with SamTrans Routes 390 and 391 and San Francisco Muni 14. Route 390 will be modified to serve this transfer point. A free shuttle will connect temporary bus stops near the Colma BART Station and the Daly City BART Station to the transfer point. The shuttle will operate weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m and again from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The temporary bus stop for the Colma BART Station will be located in the Colma Park and Ride lot located just west of the station. The temporary bus stop for the Daly City BART Station will be located on De Long Street. The transfer point will be located at Mission and Crocker streets in the northbound direction and Mission and Goethe streets in the southbound direction.

SamTrans will reroute buses to serve temporary stops just outside all other San Mateo County BART stations.

South San Francisco BART Station
