SamTrans Adjusts Fares Effective Sept. 1
SamTrans rides will cost passengers up to about 20 percent more effective Sept. 1.
The fare increase, which was approved by the board in June after a public hearing, is
intended to help offset rising costs due in part to escalating fuel prices. The
increase is expected to generate $1.4 million in revenue for the current fiscal year.
During the next fiscal year, the SamTrans Board will address its structural deficit and
look for ways to alleviate some of the pressures on its budget.
