SamTrans to Say "Thanks" for Riding

SamTrans passengers may get a little “going our way” gift on Thursday.

Transit district employees will be riding a special bus along the El Camino Real from Redwood City to Daly City on Oct. 13 handing out “goodie bags” to let customers know that their patronage is appreciated.

“We recognize that many of our riders have choices about whether they ride the bus,” said SamTrans Sales and Promotion Supervisor Penny Bertrand. “SamTrans’ Customer Appreciation Day is our way of letting them know that we’re glad that they’ve chosen SamTrans and hope they continue to ride the bus.”

Customer Appreciation Day is one of several events that are being held as part of SamTrans’ observance of Communities in Motion, a public awareness program sponsored by the American Public Transit Association to highlight how vital transit is to the economic and environmental health of communities.

Last week, 34 senior citizens took SamTrans to the movies in downtown San Mateo, many of them first-time bus riders impressed with how clean, comfortable and convenient the service was.
