SamTrans Thanks Patrons for 30 Sweet Years of Service
As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, the San Mateo
County Transit District is taking advantage of National Lollipop
Day on Thursday, July 20, to thank patrons with free lollipops.
SamTrans staff will be stationed at various transit centers
throughout the day to distribute free lollipops and thank
patrons for 30 great years of service.
Staff will be at the following locations:
-
Colma BART Station:
7:00 - 8:30 AM
-
Palo Alto Transit Center:
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
-
Redwood City Transit Center:
1:30 – 2:30 PM
-
Millbrae Intermodal Station:
4:00 – 5:00 PM
-
Daly City BART:
3:00 – 5:00 PM
SamTrans consolidated 11 local bus agencies on July 1, 1976
and has served more than a half billion patrons since then. “It’s
important that our passengers know we value their patronage,”
said SamTrans Board Chairman and Redwood City Councilman
Jim Hartnett. “We hope that the lollipops will put a smile on our
riders’ faces and help them to recognize that we know we wouldn’t
have lasted three decades without them.”
In addition to distributing red and blue lollipops in SamTrans’
colors on Thursday, the district is doing a number of things to
recognize this milestone, including producing a commemorative
pass-holder for monthly pass purchasers, creating commemorative
bookmarks, and holding an essay contest later this summer, where
passengers and community members can share what SamTrans
has meant for them during the past 30 years.
