SamTrans Increases Service to Coastside

Beginning Monday, June 5, SamTrans will add four new schedules to Route 294 to offer more service to Coastside commuters impacted by the extended closure of Highway 1 at Devil’s Slide. The weekday routes will express from Half Moon Bay to the San Bruno BART Station, where commuters can take BART into San Francisco or board SamTrans buses serving the Peninsula. Southbound BART trains connect with Caltrain at the Millbrae Intermodal Station.

The first bus will leave Main and Seventh streets in Montara at 5:30 a.m. It will serve all regular Route 294 stops before arriving at Main and Kelly streets in Half Moon Bay at 5:57 a.m. From there, the bus will express to the San Bruno BART Station, arriving at 6:31 a.m.

The second bus will leave Montara at 7:15 a.m., arrive in Half Moon Bay at 8:07 a.m., and express to the San Bruno BART Station, arriving at 8:41 a.m.

In the afternoon, two new schedules will depart the San Bruno BART Station at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and express to Half Moon Bay, arriving at 5:50 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., respectively. After leaving Half Moon Bay, the buses will serve all regular stops on the route before terminating in Montara.

These temporary changes will remain in effect until Highway 1 reopens, which is currently projected for the end of September.
