Samtrans introduces “How To” guide for new riders

The San Mateo County Transit District is introducing a guide, How to Ride the Bus, targeting first-time riders. The guide, which explains the ins and outs of riding SamTrans in six simple steps, is available in print as well as on the district Web site.

The brochure covers the basics of riding SamTrans, such as instructions on how to wait and board the bus, pay a fare, where to sit, and how to get off the bus, which are illustrated with photos. The brochure also has simple instructions on how to read a timetable.

SamTrans hopes that the new guide will encourage more people to try using the bus as a safe, reliable means of transportation. Data from a recent passenger survey revealed that 23 percent of the passengers had been riders for less than one year.
