SamTrans Gets Runners to Bay to Breakers in Record Time

SamTrans is set to rush runners and spectators to the Bay to Breakers race on Sunday, May 20. SamTrans is offering a new express service, departing from six convenient locations along the Peninsula:

Depart Location

Departure Time

Palo Alto Transit Center (Stall #3) 6:20 a.m.
Cañada College (by gym) 6:30 a.m.
    San Carlos Caltrain 6:30 a.m.
    101/92 Park & Ride 6:40 a.m.
    Millbrae BART (Stall #7) 6:30 a.m.
El Camino Real & San Bruno Ave. 6:45 a.m.

The fare to the race is $12, which must be paid in exact cash fare at the time patrons board the bus. Runners will be able to store their gear on the bus during the race, and pick it up afterward.

Runners will be dropped off near the starting line at 7:10 a.m., and spectators will be dropped off near the finish line at 7:40 a.m.

From the finish line, the first bus will depart Sunset Boulevard (between Irving & Judah streets) at 10 a.m. or when full. The last bus will leave at 2:30 p.m. (after the Footstock concert is over). SamTrans ridership to the Bay to Breakers race has been in decline over recent years, and ridership to this year’s event will help determine whether SamTrans can continue providing this special event service.
