“Pumpkinheads” wanting to celebrate the iconic symbol of autumn should consider taking SamTrans to the 37th Annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival on the weekend of Oct. 13 and 14.

Festival-goers can avoid traffic and parking hassles by taking SamTrans Route 294 from Pacifica. Coastside residents also can ride SamTrans Route 17 to downtown Half Moon Bay from Montara and also from south of downtown Half Moon Bay. The free event is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both weekend days.

Visitors going to the “World Pumpkin Capital” can expect a huge lineup of activities and exhibits paying homage to the gourd including a special display of massive weigh-off champion pumpkins, entertainment, live music, the Great Pumpkin Parade, harvest-inspired crafts, expert pumpkin carvers, pie-eating and much more.
