Media Advisory: SamTrans To Announces Winners of Student Art Contest

What:
Eight winning entries from San Mateo County students for the third annual “Art Takes a Bus Ride” will be announced on Wednesday, June 13 at the San Mateo County Transit District board meeting.

The artists, who range in age from six to 14, will be in attendance. The winners will receive a SamTrans Summer Youth Pass, a certificate and a framed copy of the bus card that displays their artwork, as well as an assortment of art supplies.

All of the winning entries, which were selected from hundreds of submissions from students in first through eighth grades, will be used to “wrap” a regular service SamTrans bus. In addition to the giant-sized display, the winning artwork also will be displayed inside SamTrans buses all summer.

“Art Takes a Bus Ride” is co-sponsored by SamTrans and the San Mateo County Office of Education.

When:
2:00 p.m.
, Wednesday, June 13, 2006
The wrapped bus will be on display in front of SamTrans’ central office building from 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 pm.

Where:
1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos

Who:
Students and teachers from seven San Mateo County Schools.

Why:

The San Mateo County Transit District is proud to be a partner in encouraging student artists to develop their talents.
