SamTrans To Hold Community Meetings On Fare Increase

SamTrans will hold three public meetings to take comments about a proposed fare increase which, if approved, would go into effect Feb. 1, 2009.
Proposals to be considered include:
- Increase the adult cash one-way fare 25 cents and increase the adult token and pass fares proportionately
- Increase express cash local one-way fare 50 cents and increase express pass fare proportionately
- Increase the paratransit one-way fare 50 cents and the Lifeline fare 25 cents
- Minor language changes to the Codified Tariff, which includes retitling senior, disabled and Medicare cardholder fares under the category “Eligible Discount”
There are no recommended fare changes for youth, seniors, customers with disabilities or Medicare cardholders.
All three public meetings will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the locations below on the specified dates:

Oct. 8 – SamTrans Headquarters
1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos
SamTrans will hold a public hearing at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the monthly Board meeting to receive final comments on the proposal.
