As summer approaches, SamTrans is rolling out its popular Summer Youth Pass (SYP) — a $40 transit pass that gives youth ages 18 and under unlimited rides from June 1 through Aug. 31.

The pass offers more than 50% in savings compared to purchasing three monthly youth passes and is aimed at helping families keep kids moving, active and connected throughout the summer.

With the region’s summer programs, events and destinations ramping up, the SYP offers a timely transportation solution for families who do not qualify for year-round free youth fares but are still looking for cost-effective, reliable travel options.

“Parents want peace of mind that their kids can get where they need to go safely and affordably,” said SamTrans General Manager/CEO April Chan. “The Summer Youth Pass gives families a simple, affordable way to ensure their kids can travel independently, safely and stay active in their communities.”

SamTrans is highlighting how the pass connects youth to local libraries, parks, museums, retail centers, and other popular destinations throughout San Mateo County. All summer long, SamTrans will also spotlight youth-friendly destinations and give away custom skate decks on its social media channels to further engage families and young riders.
