The San Mateo County Transit District (District) Board of Directors is now accepting applications to fill a public member seat representing the Coastside on the board.

Public members help ensure the board reflects the diverse communities it serves throughout San Mateo County. The Board of Directors sets policy for the District, which operates SamTrans bus, paratransit and microtransit services; oversees shuttle and other contract-operated supplemental transit services; and serves as the county’s mobility manager.

Applicants must:

  • Live in San Mateo County’s coastal region.
  • Not be an elected official.
  • Not have served as an elected official within the previous 12 months.

The selected applicant will serve a four-year term from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2030.

Applications are available in English, Chinese and Spanish here. Applicants may also request information by calling 650-551-6108.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026.
