Media Contact: Mahmoud Abunie, 650-730-6201

SamTrans will observe Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, with administrative offices closed while maintaining regular weekday bus and Ride Plus on-demand service across San Mateo County.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Customer Service Center will operate with its normal hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The San Mateo County Transit District operates 74 routes and two on-demand service areas. Funded in part by a half-cent sales tax, the district also provides administrative support for Caltrain and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. SamTrans has provided bus service to San Mateo County customers since 1976.
