SamTrans is proud to help connect fans traveling to the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches at Levi's Stadium.  

During match days and major event activities, SamTrans will operate regular scheduled bus service with connections to regional transit partner, Caltrain, to help fans travel to and from the stadium area.   

FIFA Events and Fan Fests 

SamTrans + Caltrain + Muni  

  • Take SamTrans to your nearest Caltrain station. See connections page here.  
  • Ride Caltrain to San Francisco Station.
  • Walking: Head east along 4th St. and turn left on Gene Friend Way and continue to Warriors Way (South St.) to Chase Center. (approx. 15-20 minutes)  
  • MUNI T Third Line: Walk east on Fourth St and board at the T Third platform between King St and Berry St. This service is free with a Chase Center event ticket. Use the UCSF/Chase Center stop. 
  • SamTrans routes 260, 295, 397, and ECR serve the Downtown San Carlos Area with stops just a short walk from Wheeler Plaza. 

From San Carlos Caltrain Station 

  • Take SamTrans to your nearest Caltrain station. See connections page here 
  • Take Caltrain to San Carlos Station 
  • Walk 5-8 minutes to Wheeler Plaza. 
  • San Mateo Central Park is accessible through a number of SamTrans routes. Routes 250, 292.

  • Take Caltrain to San Jose Diridon Station. 
  • Walk approximately 10–15 minutes to San Pedro Square Market located at 87 N. San Pedro Street in Downtown San Jose or  
  • Connect to the VTA Light Rail Green Line heading toward Old Ironsides and exit at St. James Station for a short walk to San Pedro Square Market

Several SamTrans routes serve Downtown Redwood City directly, with stops near Courthouse Square and the Redwood City Transit center: routes 270, 276, 278, 295, 296, ECR, and EPX.

Important Information & Policies

Airport Connection  

SamTrans is the only bus transit agency to serve all terminals of San Francisco International Airport (SFO).  

Route 292 operates daily from early morning until late night, serving San Francisco proper to the north and San Mateo at Hillsdale Shopping Center to the south. At SFO, follow the signs at baggage claim to SamTrans bus stops on the arrivals level at International Courtyard A, Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and International Courtyard G.  

In addition, routes 142, 397 and EPX also serve SFO at the Car Rental AirTrain Station.  

Connections to Caltrain can be made at Millbrae, Broadway (weekends and holidays only), Burlingame and San Mateo-Downtown stations for customers destined for the South Bay. This route also makes stops at various hotels adjacent to SFO in nearby San Bruno, South San Francisco, Millbrae and Burlingame.

Paying for Your Trip  

SamTrans offers several convenient ways to pay your fare when traveling to FIFA World Cup events and fan activities.  

Buy or Tap Before You Ride!  

SamTrans riders can pay their fare using:  

  • A contactless credit or debit card, including Apple Pay or Google Pay  
  • Clipper Card in a mobile wallet or physical Clipper card  
  • SamTrans Mobile app  
  • Cash fare payment onboard buses (exact change recommended)  

When transferring between SamTrans, Caltrain, VTA Light Rail, or other regional transit services, Clipper provides easy fare payment and transfer convenience.

Plan for Crowds and Extra Travel Time  

Transit services throughout the Bay Area are expected to be extremely busy before and after FIFA World Cup matches, watch parties, concerts, and fan events.  

Customers should:  

  • Allow extra time for transfers and boarding  
  • Expect crowded buses, trains, and stations  
  • Check schedules and real-time alerts before traveling  
  • Plan return trips in advance, especially after evening events

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol consumption is not permitted onboard SamTrans buses or in bus shelters and transit facilities unless otherwise authorized by law. Please ride responsibly and help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all customers.  

Bags, Personal Items & Accessibility  

Please keep aisles, doors, and priority seating areas clear of bags, luggage, strollers, and other personal items.  

Customers should:  

  • Keep personal belongings secure at all times  
  • Stay near luggage and large items during travel  
  • Be mindful of crowded conditions during major events   

Accessibility  

SamTrans buses are fully accessible and equipped with ramps or lifts to assist customers with mobility needs.  

All SamTrans buses will transport any size wheelchair that can be safely accommodated on the lift and in the bus.  

  • Please remove poles or flags attached to your mobility device before boarding.  
  • Using lift or ramp: the bus operator will ask you to board the bus before any other passengers. When you arrive at your stop, the operator will help you off the bus after other passengers.  
  • Lift with wheelchair: it is recommended that you back onto the lift platform. Lock your brakes to prevent rolling while the lift is in operation. Once the device is secure, the operator will raise the lift until it is level with the bus floor.  
  • Ramp with wheelchair: it is recommended that you face forward.  
  • When boarding a lift or ramp with an EPAMD, it is recommended that you face forward.  
  • The first forward-facing seats on either side of the bus fold up to allow room for mobility devices.
