The San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) is seeking dedicated community members and multimodal riders to apply for eight seats on its Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).
This volunteer body provides vital input on the needs of transit users and helps inform county residents about transit programs and services.
The CAC, a 15-member committee made up of volunteers from various segments of the community and ridership, plays an advisory role to the SamTrans Board of Directors, offering perspectives that help guide improvements in service and outreach across San Mateo County.
Members serve three-year terms and meet monthly on the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in a hybrid format that allows for both in-person and virtual participation.
There are four current vacancies and four upcoming vacancies for the committee:
- Two seats for Bus Riders (representing the diverse population of both San Mateo County and fixed-route ridership)
- Three seats for Multi-modal Riders (representing riders who use SamTrans fixed-route service to connect to another transit mode, e.g. Caltrain, BART, or another bus system)
- Three seats for Community (representing community interest which also interact with SamTrans fixed-route service, e.g. Schools, Labor, Business and Industry, Environmental Interests)
These openings present a meaningful opportunity for transit users and residents who want to contribute directly to shaping public transit policy and priorities in their communities.
Interested individuals may complete the online application or request a printable form by email or phone. Applications are accepted through Feb. 28, 2026.
For more details about the CAC and to apply, visit SamTrans’ CAC main page.
Applicants are encouraged to share how their experiences with transit and community engagement can help strengthen service and connectivity throughout the county.
For questions or to request assistance with the application, contact the CAC Secretary at cacsecretary@samtrans.com or call 650-508-6466.
